LAPEER COUNTY, MI – Two Lapeer County Sheriff’s deputies have been released from McLaren Regional Hospital in Lapeer after they suffered injuries when they were struck by another vehicle during a routine traffic stop. The collision occurred near Hadley Rd in Elba Twp.
The accident occurred last night around 7:20pm according to authorities. According to reports, two deputies in two separate cars were pulled in behind a vehicle that had been stopped for a traffic stop. A vehicle traveling westbound entered the shoulder area of the lane and smashed into the rear of the second sheriff’s car causing the accident. Both deputies were taken to McLaren Regional in Lapeer and released with minor injuries.
Detective Jason Parks for the Lapeer County Sheriff’s office told the Tribune that “It was relayed that none of the individuals sustained serious or life-threatening injuries.” Parks said, “I have been told that our deputies have been released from the hospital.”
Michigan State Police is handling the investigation.
