On Sunday, the Detroit Lions hosted the Los Angeles Rams in the Wild card round. This was the Detroit Lions’ first home playoff game in franchise history. This also was Matthew Stafford’s first game back in Detroit after he was traded to the Rams for quarterback Jared Goff in a blockbuster deal back in 2021.
It was a packed house in Detroit as the Lions were seeking to win their first playoff game since 1992. Matthew Stafford was booed as he exited the tunnel to take the field before the game. It was a hostile environment as the Lions and Lion’s fans were seeking this win and to spoil Stafford’s return to Ford Field.
The Lions started off hot as they scored three touchdowns in a row. After that the Rams were still answering back consisting of a few field goals and a touchdown. It was a back and forth contest and a battle of the defense in the second half. The Lions were able to come out by a hair as they won 24-23.
With that victory the Lions ended their streak of playoff losses and spoiled Matthew Stafford’s return to Detroit. The Lions will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next week in the divisional round this Sunday.
The Buccaneers are a sharp team right now as they stunned the Philadelphia Eagles and the NFL with their 32-9 victory in their wild card game.
It will be a great game as the Lions try to take advantage of their home field and advance to the conference championship.
