Last Saturday the Detroit Lions lost a heartbreaker to the Dallas Cowboys 19-20. It was a close, back and forth game that came down to the last 23 seconds of the game.
The Lions got a stop with under two minutes to go. They marched down the field to end their drive with an eleven-yard touchdown pass from Jared Goff to Amon St. Brown with .23 seconds left in the game.
Instead of taking the game into overtime, the Lions decided to try to take the lead and go for two. On the two-point conversion try the lions did a trick play and passed to their left tackle Taylor Decker, which they converted.
Unfortunately, the play was called back as the flag was called, “ineligible man down field”. The lions ended up failing the two-point conversion two attempts later and failed to recover an onside kick attempt.
Lions’ fans and NFL fans worldwide erupted with slander towards the refs after that questionable call.
Videos surfaced across social media of Taylor Decker and other Lions linemen going to check in to the ref so he could be eligible as a receiver. NFL fans and reporters have sounded off on the NFL officials as they allegedly caused the Lions to lose the game they deserved to win.
So, the Dallas Cowboys will be the two seed this year in the playoffs and with the Eagles’ loss, they win their division as well. The Lions are now the third seed in the playoffs and hope to end the season with a win in a rematch against division rival, Minnesota Vikings, this Sunday. It will be their final regular season game of the year.
